Here's my week in snippets...we'll start with the good stuff.

We've got the boys sleeping in the same room, and the best part is we are putting them both in bed awake and they are falling asleep together!!!!!!!!

Gentry started signing "more" today. The funny thing is it wasn't for more food, but because he wanted the necklace I took away from him back...

Micah research project got approved by Martek, this is big because he'll be able to use work hours to do school work, and he won't have to drive to Lex. to work on it. Ya!!!!!

I finally conceded to putting Grey in school under the compromise of a Montessori school...never mind it's $3000 for 9mo. of 3hr a day schooling...back to homeschooling I guess.

Love for Logan Benefit

For once I'm going to put something of substance on here. We have some friends, Brian and Anita Keating, who's 2 1/2 yr. old son is in need of another heart surgery. He will require a long recovery period so Anita is going to stay home with him. They are going to have a benefit dance for him to help with the income they are going to lose because of this decision. The Keatings have always thrown stellar shindigs so if you don't have any plans Aug 3, please come and party with us and help support sweet baby Logan. Everyone is invited, but tickets are limited.

Back to the grindstone...kinda

Well, thanks to Amy, who hooked me up with a cush job, I'm now part of the working world again (2days/wk, 3hrs/day). I know it's not much but it feels like a big step considering that I haven't worked in 4 yrs. I watch the child care room at a gym, which yesterday had a ton of little girls. I got to do hair, dance to Hannah Montana, and pretend to be a giraffe. It was a lot of fun. The sweetest perk is a gym membership, I can't wait to use that and start working out. I've been talking about it since Gentry was born but our gym here in town has teenagers in the child care room and I just don't trust them. So here we go, lets see if I actually do it. The only downside is it's a $12 round trip in the suburban, so I think on the days I work Micah will be riding his bike to work and I will be taking the focus. I'm so not thrilled about driving the little blue tuna can, but it's half the price, so I guess I should.

Wealth and the Middle Class...how do you feel about it?

Gentry's worst day ever (and mine)

Starting yesterday morning he rolled off the changing table (I was standing in front of him but he went around me). I caught him before he hit the floor but he did bang the table a bit.

Then he was playing in an empty kitchen cabinet and he fell out face first onto the the tile floor. He has a bruise on the tip of his nose now.

Last night while we ate dinner, he was playing with some pots and pans. One of them crashed to the floor and scared him, he jumped and slammed into the door. He has a scratch on the bridge of his nose.

The the big one...playing in the bath, he used the side of the tub to stand up. He started to tip out so I nudged his shoulders back in, his feet slipped, his chin clocked the side of the tub, and his two bottom teeth busted through his top gum. His mouth was full of blood, it was bad.

And to top it all off his eczema is horrible from being outside so much this weekend. His skin looks like leather.

So needless to say he was dosed with orajel, tylenol, and benadryl before bed. I guess you could say that I was not a great mom yesterday...I kinda sucked.

Mother's Day Weekend

This weekend was all around great. We went to Laura's graduation party Saturday afternoon and had some great BBQ. Grey had a blast outside assaulting some 5 yr old neighborhood kid. I also made a cake for Laura as a gift and I fretted over it all week so finally finishing it was a relief. It turned out great considering it was my first attempt at fondant and sugar paste. The best part was it turned out just like the sketch I drew up earlier in the week...I love when things go just as planned, I know, I'm a bit Martha that way.



Then Saturday night we went out for sushi with some friends we used to go to church with. It was the first time we have had sushi and surprise surprise we loved it. We totally gorged ourselves, the waitress brought Micah and my food and put it in the middle of the table because she thought it was for all four of us. Little did she know that we have the appetite of a very large mid-western trucker.

Sunday morning was crunch time. We were running around like chickens with our heads cut off. Micah had to be at church early to watch the junk yard kids (only nobody called to tell us that there were none this week), and it was Gentry's baby dedication, and we had to pack up some cake and other stuff to go to Louisville for the day. And since I'm horrible under pressure and I had nothing to wear, I was very unpleasant.



The baby dedication went great, our church really does a great job with that. It was very precious and meaningful for us. After church I wanted to get a group picture of my church mom friends and lets just say that chaos ensued. 8 kids under 4 tying to play, and four moms trying to smile...It took Brett and Fred making some sort of kissy/zerburt noises, Greg directing traffic, and Micah wielding the camera to get one picture, but it was worth it.

Then we headed off to New Albany, IN to see Micah's paternal grandparents. It's like going back to the '50s when your on " We sit on the screened in porch, have a vodka tonic, and listen to the silence. I just feel like we have so much to learn from them, they've been married for over 50 years, Janis has Parkinson's, Dick's cancer just came back, but they are still holding on to one another.




So all in all it was a great weekend full of family and friends. And to top it all off I got a new copper bottom skillet and Micah is building me new pantry shelves...very cool.

I'm bound to have a heart attack

Oh Oprah today Dr. Oz quoted a new study about heart attack sufferers in Germany (I'm German). They said women are 50% more likely to suffer a heart attack if there homes are noisy all day because it raises the bodies anxiety level. Not only is my house NEVER quiet, but even when the day is over and I'm laying in bed, I often nudge Micah and say "did you hear that", "hear what?", "the baby crying", "honey the house is silent". I don't hear a ringing in my ears, I hear babies screaming!

Busy Weekend Ahead

We went this morning to go play at the Gilmore's. Grey and Keaton definately have a love-hate relationship. They are always so excited to see one another and cry when we have to go, but the inbetween is full of hitting, kicking, wrestling and the sort. We also drove some meals over to Sally who just had her second baby, his name is Harrison, so cute!

Tonight we have a small group cookout, everyone's kids should be there so it will be a big crew, but should be fun.

Now for the great part...we are going to Louisville tomorrow to celebrate our 4th anniversary. We're jumping the gun a bit, it's not really until May 2nd, but who can afford to do anything in the ville Derby weekend? So we are going to eat at one of our fav. places L & N and then going to the Palace to see Celtic Woman, it's kinda like an Irish poprah. I know we're a little on the artsy fartsy side. But we are excited non the less. Micah's aunt and uncle will have the kids so we are actually getting a free night of babysitting!!! I can't wait, I even bought a new dress, now lets just all pray I don't leak all over it :-)

Sunday we are having brunch with some friends we haven't seen in almost a year, they just found out they are pregnant and I'm sooooo excited. I've never seen anyone who loves kids so much, they are going to be exceptional parents. We're driving up two boxes of maternity clothes, so that's another bonus. We don't have to put all that crap in the attic..

Why men envy babies

Babies are living the life men secretly wish they could have. (At least from my husbands point of view)
1. Everyone smiles and laughs when you pass gas.
2. We make a huge deal out of every bowel movement and describe it to anyone who will listen.
3.When you whine our boobs get bigger.
4. Six to ten times a day we put a boob in your mouth and let you fall asleep that way if you want.

I hate allergy season...I can't breath.

I got to go see Colston last night, he's super cute! You know how people think most babies are cute....not me, I think most are pretty squishy and ugly. This guy is ligitimatly cute though. He was so alert and precious. It almost makes me want to be pregnant again (I said ALMOST). If I could have a baby without being pregnant I would. I hate it, you feel like shit for 9 mo. and any woman will tell you that you feel better the second you push the baby out. I got totally high off natural labor though, our bodies are amazing! Even though I was a little dissapointed that I didn't feel the "birth orgasm", and yes that's a real thing, look it up.

Colston is here!!!

Lot's of cool things have happened today! Some friends of ours had their baby, Colston Matthew, 7 lbs. 9 oz., 20 in. born at 12:35pm. I'm so glad he's here. When I told Grey that Addison was getting a baby brother today he said "Ya! a present!" and I totally agree. I hope to go and see him tonight. I will show pictures later.

I also went to my uber cool church to meet with XSM director Tim about volunteering, I'm really excited about this, it seems like a good fit for me. I would get to send our birthday cards, make encouragment phonecalls, and send new baby gifts. It's basically what I already do just for a different group of people.

And ya, I almost threw up this morning when I found lamb blood in the sink left over from Passover. No we didn't slaughter a lamb, but I did clean a leg of lamb in the sink, yuk! I had to open the windows to get the smell out.

Micah had a test today in one of his extremely hard classes. He read me some of the stuff he was studying last night and all I understood was "enzyme, covalent, protien, prion", everything else sounded like yiddish....God! he is so smart!

Grey has completely stopped taking naps since daylight savings time. I HATE THIS!!! So I've had to start just locking him in his room for a couple of hours a day. To anyone who thinks this is cruel.......I don't care! Can you imagine your boss waking you up in the morning requesting you make him breakfast and change his diaper, having no lunch break because your lunch consists of making his lunch, your dinner his dinner, sometimes your shower his shower, so forth and so on until you pass out around midnight. I need a couple hours a day alone, and by alone I mean with just my 6 mo. old to boss me around instead of the both of them. :-)
